Project Outcome: The event saw active involvement from senior school students, parents, and the wider school community. Held at Dumas Beach on a Sunday, the students organized a clean-up drive as part of their sustainability campaign. Over 50 participants joined the initiative, and together they collected approximately 50 to 60 kilograms of waste. The collected waste was then handed over to Eco-Vision, ensuring it was disposed of responsibly. This impactful action showcased the power of community involvement in promoting sustainability and protecting the environment.
Project Description: Grade 4 students explored the transdisciplinary theme How We Express Ourselves by investigating the role of media in shaping opinions and choices. Their inquiry, How can we promote sustainability through an effective media campaign?, led them to create impactful media-driven initiatives.
Students recorded podcasts, which were played during school public announcements, designed SOS posters, and produced promotional videos. They conducted surveys across grades to finalize the event’s date, time, and location. Actively using the school’s Instagram page, they promoted their campaign to reach a wider audience.
This student-led initiative integrated Arts, Language, ICT, and Research Skills while fostering media literacy and ethical communication. The campaign culminated in an interactive event with active parent involvement, showcasing students’ ability to influence change through media.
