Project Outcome: LEGO Stair Climber Robot
Project Description: This self-initiated project showcased the student’s creativity, robotics knowledge, and engineering design skills as they built a LEGO Stair Climber Bot motivated by curiosity about how robots can overcome real-world obstacles such as stairs. Over the course of three weeks, the student researched various mechanisms, explored gear ratios, and experimented with structural designs to improve stability and climbing efficiency. They moved through multiple stages of the design cycle—planning, prototyping, testing, and refining—while troubleshooting challenges related to balance, weight distribution, and power control. Through perseverance and iterative problem-solving, the student successfully applied STEM concepts in a practical and meaningful way. The project connected closely with Robotics and Design & Technology, exemplifying strong student agency and learning beyond classroom requirements.
