Project Outcome: A vehicle running on solar power
Project Description: This project aimed to address the growing demand for eco-friendly transportation solutions in our city by utilizing solar energy. The challenge was to create a travel system powered by the sun, offering a clean and efficient alternative to fuel-powered vehicles, in alignment with the third Line of Inquiry (LOI) on Sustainable Energy, with the concept of Responsibility.
Project Significance: As cities strive to reduce their environmental impact, transitioning away from fossil fuels is critical. This project explored how solar energy could power transportation, demonstrating a commitment to sustainability and innovation. The use of solar panels eliminates harmful emissions, supporting both environmental health and the city’s vision for a greener future.
Key Findings: Upon testing the prototype, the team discovered that additional solar panels were needed to generate sufficient power for consistent operation. They also identified that incorporating an LED indicator on the panel allowed them to monitor its functionality in real time. The prototype’s efficiency was confirmed, and the next step was scaling up the number of solar panels to meet energy demands, moving the project closer to providing a viable, eco-friendly transportation solution.
