by Anay Asodia

Project Description: Anay’s project aimed to bridge communication gaps by learning intermediate-level American Sign Language (ASL) through a 24-session online course. This skill enabled him to effectively interact with deaf actors in a mime performance. The project culminated in a mime, a theatrical form that relies on nonverbal communication, body gestures, and sign language. The performance symbolized the expressive power of the deaf community, demonstrating how individuals can convey complex emotions and stories through gestures and body language.

Product Outcome: The project resulted in a compelling mime performance that showcased the artistic capabilities of deaf and mute actors. Anay’s proficiency in ASL facilitated meaningful communication and collaboration, enhancing the overall quality of the performance. The final product highlighted the ability of nonverbal communication to transcend traditional barriers, offering an impactful representation of the deaf community’s expressive potential.
