Project Description:
Parishi Parchani, Shanaya Patel and Tisya Arora undertook this group passion project to explore sustainable fashion through the concept of a circular economy. The project focused on repurposing discarded denim, a resource-intensive and high-value textile, into durable and premium accessories. Through detailed research, the students emphasized upcycling as a key design principle, transforming pre-loved denim into fashionable products while reducing textile waste and extending the material’s lifecycle.
Project Outcome:
As a result of their work, the students created a collection of functional and trend-driven accessories, including oversized tote bags and minimalist sling bags designed for everyday use. These products combined the durability of denim with modern fashion aesthetics, showcasing a strong “sustainable touch.” The project demonstrated a viable business approach by converting waste into marketable products, highlighting that repurposed materials can successfully compete in the fashion industry. It also enhanced their creativity, entrepreneurial thinking, and awareness of sustainable practices.
