Project Description:
Jaivee Kagalwala’s individual Humanities project involves writing a small book titled What Makes You a Surti?. The project explores the cultural identity, traditions, values, and lifestyle associated with people from Surat (“Surti”), aiming to understand what defines and shapes this identity.

Project Focus:
The work is based on researching local culture, community practices, language, food habits, festivals, and social behaviors that contribute to a shared sense of identity. Through observations, interviews, and personal reflections, the project examines how cultural influences and everyday practices come together to define what it means to be a Surti.

Project Outcome:
The final product is a written book that presents Jaivee’s understanding of cultural identity in an organized and reflective manner. It demonstrates research skills, awareness of local heritage, and the ability to express ideas clearly through writing, while highlighting the richness and uniqueness of Surat’s cultural fabric.
