Project Description:
Anushka Bajaj’s individual Design project focuses on creating a portable and affordable bed for homeless individuals. The project aims to address a significant social need by designing a solution that enhances comfort, safety, and dignity for users while remaining practical and accessible.
Project Focus:
The design process involved user research and competitive analysis to identify key needs such as portability, durability, affordability, and functionality. Based on these insights, the student developed a concept for a foldable bed that can be easily converted into a compact, lightweight bag for transportation. The design also incorporates an additional storage component to hold essential items, making it more useful in real-world conditions.
Project Outcome:
The final outcome is a prototype of a portable, foldable bed that demonstrates thoughtful design thinking and problem-solving. Through this project, Anushka has shown an understanding of user-centered design, social impact, and product functionality, while proposing a meaningful solution that could be scaled and distributed through NGOs and homeless shelters to support communities in need.
