Project Description:
Hitansh Jain undertook this individual Extended Essay (EE) in Economics as part of the IB Diploma Programme. His research investigated the question: To what extent has the Gujarat State Electric Vehicle Policy–2021 reduced market failure associated with the positive consumption externalities of electric two-wheelers in Gujarat between 2021 and 2024? The project involved formulating a focused research question, collecting and analyzing secondary data, and applying relevant economic theories related to market failure and externalities. Hitansh conducted detailed policy analysis, interpreted statistical data, and evaluated the effectiveness of the policy using economic models. The research was carried out over several months in accordance with IB EE guidelines, demonstrating a structured and disciplined approach.
Project Outcome:
The final outcome was a comprehensive 4,000-word academic essay that critically evaluated a real-world government policy. Through this process, Hitansh demonstrated strong independent thinking, analytical ability, and proficiency in applying economic concepts to practical scenarios. His work reflected a clear understanding of policy effectiveness, supported by data-driven analysis and critical evaluation. The project strengthened his research, data interpretation, and academic writing skills, resulting in a well-structured essay aligned with IB assessment criteria.
